Sunday, December 12th, 2004Another quick point about that faith vs. ATC thing.
If it actually were that being prepared to accept the consequences was the same as faith, then some guy (or gal) gambling at some casino would be displaying faith.
Could this be why we, as christians, should not be gambling?
Perhaps God does not want us putting our faith in things that will fail because it weakens our faith in Him. We would get used to things we have faith in failing us, and would expect God to fail as well.
Perhaps that is going too far. It makes everything an act of faith.
I leave you with this question: If the friends of the bedridden man - you know, the one who was lowered down from the roof into the place where Jesus was - If they had just figured “Well, we’ve tried other things, and they didn’t work, so I guess we’ll try Jesus, and if it doesn’t work then we’ve done our best, and that’s that.”
Mark 2:5 “When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
